FORS Silver Accreditation
Haulmasters Ltd is pleased to announce that we have now been accredited as a FORS Silver Company. This is a progression from our existing Bronze status achieved by meeting or exceeding the strict requirements to satisfy Transport for London’s criteria.
‘The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is an industry-led accreditation scheme that aims to promote road freight as a safe and sustainable mode of transportation in a way that supports economic growth and environmental targets whilst helping to improve our quality of life. FORS is a voluntary scheme that encourages sustainable best practice for fleet operators. At its core, FORS promotes safe working practices, legal compliance and a corporate social responsibility to improve the performance of fleet operators.’
- FORS is only awarded to hauliers demonstrating the highest levels of fleet management with emphasis on the safety of other road users.
- The FORS audit is an intensive test of how well we run our fleet in terms of safety, driver training, efficiency, environmental concern and many other aspects of quality of management. Haulmasters vehicles are now fitted with extra equipment to improve the safety of and awareness to other road users.
Crossrail Compliant Haulier
Crossrail is a railway currently under construction that has become Europe’s biggest construction project and will link Berkshire and Buckinghamshire via London to Essex. Services will commence in May 2015 between Liverpool Street and Shenfield and will be extended to other parts of the route during 2018 and 2019.
Crossrail is a fully owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL) and in a bid to improve cycle safety on London’s streets by reducing the dangers represented by HGV’s Crossrail’s contractor requirements mandate that all Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) working on the project are fitted with safety devices including blind spot proximity sensors, reversing cameras, side under-run guards and warning alerts for cyclists to name just a few.
As intensive construction for Crossrail gets underway, any HGVs not meeting Crossrail’s strict standards are being turned away from worksites with the contractor liable for any costs incurred. This applies to HGVs operated directly by a contractor or on their behalf by a haulier.
On top of this all frequent drivers working on Crossrail sites must complete a dedicated training programme concerning sharing the road with vulnerable road users.
Various contractors are now also implementing these requirements to other non-Crossrail sites like The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Haulmasters Ltd are fully Crossrail compliant and have extensive knowledge and experience with working on Crossrail sites and the Olympic Park so don’t risk your loads getting turned away.
